The episode opens with Babs serenading along with the illustrations from a storybook about a knight saving a princess from a dragon. Kara interrupts her and Babs directs Kara to Ye Olde Metropolis Renaissance Faire. Jess and Karen join them and plan to meet Zee and Diana inside.
Karen mentions that there are news stories about the Ren Faire of people going missing. Kara goes to a turkey leg stand and orders turkey legs from its cashier, Ember. Ember grins and laughs menacingly upon seeing a girl dressed as a princess. She stalks her, and a shot shows her shadow transforming with horns coming out of her head and claws growing from her hands. Her shadow looms behind the princess and she roars, but Kara interrupts her and asks for more turkey legs. The following shot, Ember looks like an ordinary human, without horns or claws.
Back at the turkey leg stands, Ember says to herself that she hasn't had a decent meal in centuries, and that she wants to eat an authentic princess. She sniffs the air and spots Zee, who is dressed like a princess, with Diana standing next to Zee. Diana and Zee argue about how a princess should look and act.
Babs brings Diana to the blacksmith, where Diana starts hammering a sword. Ember sneaks up behind Zee, but before she can get to her Diana finishes hammering the sowrd and spins it, accidentally cutting one of the blacksmith tent's ropes and collapsing part of the tent on Ember.
At a falconer show, Diana commands a hawk to "seek worthy prey". Ember again sneaks up behind Zee, but the hawk attacks her before she can get to Zee. At a mud-throwing pit, Ember again sneaks up behind Zee, but she gets pushed in the mud when Zee recoils from having a bit of mud hit her dress.
When Diana catches a rose that was thrown for Zee, the two storm off by themselves. When Zee is alone, she is again stalked by Ember. A shot of her shadow shows her transforming into a dragon. Zee turns to look behind her and sees Ember, who now looks like a humanoid dragon, and Ember says to her "Well hello there, Princess" before the shot cuts to black.
